“Michael, can I use one of your relaxdaily tunes in my creative project?” is something I get asked daily. I don’t have an easy time answering. Copyright and licensing are complex topics. Most musicians take this incredibly lightly. I do not. The process to grant permission in a responsible way costs energy. Energy I rather like spending on creating and sharing new music. That’s why I only very rarely give permission to use relaxdaily music.

As a solution, I took a month off to craft three nice, relaxdaily style tunes in multiple versions, so hopefully one of these might actually work in your creative project. I give away the use rights to these tunes, worth between USD150 and about USD1500 per project, here on this page, for projects that are in line with my personal terms.

The recordings and underlying compositions "Particles of Life", "Follow Me," and "Lightness Within" are written, performed and recored by me, Michael Fesser, and can be used by individuals and companies on a non-exclusive basis for the purpose of background music in any project under the following terms (all must apply):

• A use as background music (embedded in your creation) in a video, documentary, film, slideshow, presentation, website, social media post, advertisement, podcast, app, video game is welcome and allowed. Also allowed: Use as background music for any indoor and outdoor use that’s not fixed into a medium (e.g. theater, show, art project, recreational, health, wellbeing…).

• You, the creator, must honestly believe at the time of publishing, that the project you use the music in, or the product or service you promote, makes our world a better place and does not hurt the planet, eco systems, animals and humans.

• Independent of a publishing on YouTube, your project must be in line with the official YouTube community guidelines (as a simple quality filter). I personally don’t see rumbling against anything that adds noise, physical or mental pain and toxins to our world as harassment, though. Use your guts to create something effective while close to the above YouTube spirit in a responsible way.

• Claiming ownership of the music or your resulting project through any content detection, fingerprint, or registration system (such as YouTube’s Content ID), even if synchronized with your own additional project items like words, images, voice, etc. is strictly NOT permitted. If you do so, you do potential damage to thousands of creators and will be made responsible for doing so. Only 100% exclusive material belongs in Content ID systems. This music is used by thousands. It’s a shared object. Exception: You find a way to fully exclude the music from the rest of your project (as of 2020, though technically possible, I’m not aware of an active Content ID system that separates the music from the rest of the production).

• reselling, distributing or making available the music on its own (as music only) is not permitted

• re-mixing, sampling, reusing parts in music production or adding lyrics and making a song is NOT permitted

• inclusion in a video or audio production software or library is NOT permitted

• crediting is not necessary, but of course I’m happy when you tell your friends about the relaxdaily project!
